Tile Advantages

Durability
Tile is extremely resilient when it comes to staining, wear and tear. Tile performs extremely well in high traffic areas; however, it does not have strong impact resistance, so if you drop a heavy object on tile, it’s prone to cracking. Check with your Flowers Flooring sales associate or estimate technician about the break strength specifications for your tile selections.
Easy Cleaning
Carpets collect dirt and debris and need to be cleaned regularly. Tile, on the other hand, collects debris on its surface, and does not need to be cleaned as often or as intensely as carpet. Tile is also easier and less time consuming to care for than other flooring types, such as hardwood. For most tile types, you only need to mop once a week. If your tile doesn't get a lot of foot traffic, you can get away with just sweeping and spot cleaning weekly.

Easy Maintenance
In addition to being easy to clean, tile is also easy to maintain. Applying sealer every three to four years is enough to preserve its integrity. Grout around the tile holds it in place to ensure there is no water damage to the floor underneath.
Energy Efficiency
While carpet tends to retain heat, tile has great cooling properties and remains cool on hot summer days. When the temperature and humidity sky rocket during the summer months in North Carolina, tile remains cool and is a good way to help lower your air conditioning bill. Tile also helps lower your heating bill in the winter, as it serves as a form of insulation. Tile is also eco-friendly as it is usually made out of raw materials like glass, sand and clay.

Cost-Effective
Tile’s longevity pays for itself. When you take good care of your tile with simple maintenance and cleaning, it can last for decades. When you factor in the initial cost of purchasing the tile and installation with their longevity and lack of costly maintenance, it becomes crystal clear that tile floors are worth every penny.
Variety
In addition to selecting a tile design (style, size and color), you also get to select the tile pattern for tile installation, such as a basket weave, herringbone or brickwork to name a few. This allows you to get creative!

Resale Value
Installation of tile in your home can prove to be profitable in the long run if you are planning to eventually put your house on the market. Adding a tile floor increases its resale value and could add thousands of dollars to your home’s value.
